Rated fire door on loft conversion

Post by htg engineer » Sat Jun 22, 2019 11:55 am

I'm in the middle of my loft conversion, which will be a bedroom. I need to fit and Fd30 fire door.

The wall config and door opening position, the door will open out onto the top landing, but won't have the 400mm clearance from the top step.

I plan to fit 2 x 15" doors, routed on one edge where they meet for the intumescent/smoke seal.

I know I'll need sprung hinges or pergo door closers.

I'm going to cut a 30" blank door, will this meet building regs, as it will then give me the 400mm clearance from the open door edge to the top step.
