Re-fit door handle to internal wooden French door

Postby declanmullan » Wed Aug 30, 2023 9:34 pm

Hi all,

A door handle on a set of internal wooden French doors has come off a couple of times. The screws don't hold well in the holes. Last time it came off, I tried filling the holes with wood filler and re-fixing, but it has come off again.

The horizontal screw holes aren't deep - they seem to hit part of the internal part of the mechanism - so the handle has only ever been attached with the two holes above and below the centre.

Not sure what options I have to re-fit and get it fully secured so that it doesn't come off again. Anyone come across this and have any ideas?

Thanks,
Declan

Hi declanmullan,
Remove the square spindle and fit handles which have bolts that attach the sides together.
