Our cast aluminium house sign is looking a bit tired after 25 years. After taking it down I noticed that the paint has started to peel in places. I have used a wire brush to take it back to sound paint and bare metal but now want to re-paint it.
I have tried contacting local powder coating firms to have it sand blasted and recovered but had no response - presumably the job is too small for them.
The sign isn't very large - about 32 cm x 19 cm.
Is it possible to do this job myself and if so what preparation and type of paint would be required?
