Re-skimming walls or can they just be sanded off?

by Amyea91 » Thu Jul 16, 2020 11:49 am

Hi, I have thick embossed wallpaper in my hallway that just soaks paint up and looks awful. I’ve pulled a bit away and it’s a little textured and not completely flat, but it feels and looks a bit like that paint that’s a bit grainy. I have a contractor coming to give me a quote on re-skimming all the walls, but I’m wondering if it would be possible to sand it down and re-paint it instead? I’ve tried to attach a photo but it’s too big sorry

Hi amyea91
Try sanding them and see if the finish is acceptable. Skim coating is difficult at the moment due to lack of availability of plaster.
