I was hoping for some advice on how to make our photinia tree growth more dense.
We purchased it about 7 months ago already established to around 4-5 meters. During the cold winter it eventually lost all its leaves. Now new growth has started to come back but it's still very bare. The point of the tree was to try and disguise the wall behind it so it's not really doing the job we wanted so far.
We have contacted the place we purchased it from and they suggested to feed the base with bone meal which we have done. But I would have thought we would also need to do some heavy pruning to encourage growth from within the tree but I don't know if that would make it worse.
