I will be building a brick fireplace for a woodburner in my bungalow and would like some clarification on whether I need a register plate or not. My boiler engineer will be installing the flue overseen by building comtrol as he's not HETAS registered. He tells me that i shouldn't need a register plate as there is no existing chimney. The flue will connect to a stainless steel shroud that will go through the roof. Is he correct?
