Removing a double socket

Hi All, novice DIYer here, I hope you can help :)

I want to remove a double socket from our bedroom. If it turns out to be on the ring main rather than on a spur, I was thinking of disconnecting the two ring main wires from the socket, taking them back down under the floorboards, and joining them with either

or Screwfix.com/prods/13013/Electrical/Cable-Accessories/Junction-Boxes/Standard-Junction-Box-30A-3-Terminal
I'd then make a small access panel in the floorboard and carpet over it. Am I on the right track? Many thanks.
