Removing gloss from radiators

Post by angela23 » Mon Sep 08, 2008 11:53 am

I want to re-paint my radiators with eggshell. They are currently painted with gloss (probably hundreds of layers). What is the best way to prep the radiators?? Do I need to remove the old paint altogether and is there any recommended products or will it be ok if I just sand them down to smooth the surface? I plan to replace them at some point so dont want to do the job at too much expense, but not afraid of hard work.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

For best results it would be best to strip all the old paint off......However, if you give them a good rub down with a good quality glasspaper about 100 grit then use a good quality undercoat then Eggshell. That will do the job just fine!

Make sure its a GOOD rub down!
