I ned to replace the feet on an old piano stool to lower its height, but cannot get 2 of the feet off. They are glued in securely. Is there any way of breaking down the wood glue? I really don't want to cut the feet off, because at some point in ther future I may want to put them back on again.
The stool is probably > 50 year old. Any help would be much appreciated.
Heat is usually the only way to break down wood glue Dave but the amount of heat required is usually enough to burn the timber ! Very sharp chisels and/or a hobby knife is usually the only way which retains the integrity of the piece.
