Removing seized cartridge housing

Post by Hacksaw » Fri Feb 08, 2008 11:02 pm

Hello,

I have a dripping bathroom mixer tap (Victorian chrome style with shower attachment in the middle). I have been unable to undo the nut at the head of the exposed cartridge on the hot tap (having removed the tap handle and bell cover). There is a split pin at the bottom of the centre spindle, but I don't believe that this is preventing the head nut from turning.

Any suggestions on how I can loosen the head nut on the cartridge, so I can replace the cartridge itself?

Thanks

Ritchie

hi hacksaw,

is it a reverse thread? (ie tightens anti-clockwise) some of them are to prevent them from becoming loose during normal operation of the tap. so you could be tightening instead of loosening. just a thought.
