Removing Towel Rad

Post by s rogers » Sat Jun 02, 2007 6:43 pm

I want to remove my towel rad, to tile the wall. What is the best way to remove it with least mess, and how do I top up the central heating again. I have a condensing combi boiler. Do I just top up the system through the top pipe and then bleed the rad?

turn off both radiator valves on the towel rail and remove the rail, place fingers over the end of the water connections and tip upside down to reduce the amount of water escaping. To Re-pressurise the sytem there'll be a combi fill next to or on the boiler, fill to about 1.5 bar and vent the towel rail, once full re-pressurise to 1.5bar and then turn the heating on.
