Repair or Replace Gainsborough GS500 Thermostatic Shower Mixer?

by greengingers » Thu Jan 14, 2016 5:44 pm

I have a Gainsborough Gs500 thermostatic shower mixer above my bath that was installed in my bathroom about 5 years ago. But I now have two serious issues with it:
1 - Despite there being no problem with the combi boiler and no problem with hot water supply to any of the taps, including the hot water tap in the bath, this shower only runs tepid at best. I want to have hot showers but even with the shower's temperature dial turned to it's hottest setting, the water is only tepid.
2 - The on/off lever has become incredibly difficult to turn off.

bearing in mind these two issue, is this shower fixable or would I save time and money getting anew shower installed?
