Repair shattered plane

by john9159 » Tue Mar 25, 2008 2:42 pm

My Record 77 bullnose plane has broken after falling to the floor, a clean break into two pieces.
Any suggestions on how to repair this, I assume brazing is the solution, has anyone ever had this problem?

Thats a shame and quite an old one too!

To be frank I suspect that you'll never repair it satisfactorily. Tried looking on Ebay for a replacement 77?

Cheers

Yes it was a tragedy, they are in great demand on eBay, people are willing to pay in excess of £40 for these.
Elsewhere I have seen them for between £70 and £120. It appears they are being collected for their antiquity value rather than for carpentry use.
