Replacing Single Socket With Spur With Double Socket That has Small Terminal Wire Inlets

by cyesi23 » Mon May 07, 2018 2:37 pm

Hi All, Just bought a new double socket from B&Q to replace an old single socket.
Taking the old socket off the wall, it has a spur as three set of wires twisted into the existing socket terminal inlets. The new socket inlets are very small, big enough for only one wire each.
Am I going to have to put a junction box (cutting a section out of the plasterboard) or is there any simpler way to sort this out?

Thanks

Simon

Buy a decent brand of socket such as MK.
It will be a better job, better quality of part and less grief.
