1925 house with (probably original) slate roof. Too many slipped/broken slates over the years to keep patching up so I think it is time to bite the bullet and get re-roofed.
A roofer has quoted me for concrete tiles (as cheaper than slates), and indeed the adjoining house (semi-detached) had theirs redone a couple of years ago with concrete tiles.
My concern though is weight; concrete tiles must be heavier than slates. Can the roof structure take that weight? Is it a complete cowboy disaster waiting to happen if you do that?
