REPLACING STOP TAP

Post by paulat » Fri Feb 01, 2008 12:12 pm

does anyone know where to get a long key to turn off the stop tap outside. Whilst turning the stop tap inside it got broken, so now can't put new shower in until tap is turned off. Or even better, an easy way to turn inside stop tap of without a head.

You can hire or buy stop tap keys. Any plumbing shop will sell them.

Alternatively a large adjustable spanned will normally be long enough to reach - worth a try.

I couldn't reach mine easily outside my house and after grovelling in the street getting dirty I still couldn't turn it. So I got a length of timber ~700mm x 100mm x 20mm cut a 'v' at one end which allowed me to trap the tap and turn it easily.
