Resurfacing a steel bath

Has anyone used DIY resurfacing kits, and if so how did they perform? In particular the Jaeger one or Mr Tubby.

The Mr Tubby 1 is good value for money but it left a bit of an uneven surface when I used it. You can get it done professionally with a company like Interbath but it is more money. I guess it depends on the bath itself - it it's a bit of a collectors item, it's probably worth investing in getting it done professionally.
