Reupholstering my Sofa - Where to Find a Decent Tradesman and What Budget Would I be Looking at?

Post by NathalieMartin » Wed Jan 28, 2015 11:41 am

Hi guys, I'm not sure if this is the most appropriate subforum but if not please lt me know and I'll happily redress my query elsewhere!

So basically I'm looking to refresh my lounge furniture by getting some stylish new fabric to reupholster the sofa and loveseat. I found some delightful designs here which I am just dying to use to spruce up my living space: http://www.fabricsandpapers.com/category/view/designer-upholstery-fabric

But, I have to confess I don't have the first idea about reupholstering. Presumably if I Google it I'll be able to find a reputable local tradesman for the job, as I'm guessing me and my husband aren't going to be able to pull it off with a DIY job. However, what should I be looking out for when I am seeking such a reputable tradesman? And what kind of budget should I allow?

If anyone has any tips I'd be super grateful.

Thanks for your help

Nat

Hi Nat,
Why not have a look at our find a tradesman page to help you find a local, reputable upholster to help you: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/find-tradesmen/

We also have a great section on the website that help you deal with tradesman and avoid the cowboys: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/diy-how-to- ... ilders.htm

Good luck with the project - I'm sure it will be fine as the overwhelming majority of tradesman want exactly what you do; to do a good job and move on to the next one with glowing references!
