Ridge Tile Problem With Birds Chipping at the Cement

by collectors » Sat Sep 01, 2018 11:21 am

Hi, we built a new extension about 5 years ago & now we are getting a problems with the ridge tile cement coming out. The roofers seem to be fine & doing a good job using a long jig/template to seat the ridge tiles on & then infill with mortar & all looked very neat.
A couple of times recently we heard a noise on the roof & when we popped outside there has been a lump of cement in the gutter. Now, the last two time this has happened i have got out there quick & seen a jack-door/rook/crow getting his beak into the area the cement fell out from. I asum there might be some bugs. I notice this is on the sunny side of the roof & not sure if this will make a difference & the tiles are a Norfolk pan tile " the large wavey type"
Anyone else had this problem & found a way around it??
