Ridge tiles

by polypody » Sat Mar 28, 2020 4:13 pm

Some of the mortar between each ridge tile on our gabled roof is missing. Viewed from the ground the tiles do not appear to be loosened & the loft appears watertight but I was wondering is this a job, re-mortaring between the tiles, that needs doing sooner than later please?

Hi polypody,
Unless the ridges are loose or you have water ingress I would suggest you leave well alone.
Making good would involve raking out loose mortar, soaking the joints and then repointing.
