sealing around a window, making neat job of silicon

by ramery2007 » Sun Jan 13, 2008 8:29 pm

When some windows were replaced a few years ago, they used brown silicon around the frames, however the edges of the silicon are trimmed off (on the brick and frame there is a definate edge to the silcon) how do you get this effect ?

Would I put some masking tape on the frame and brick then use a gun to apply the silicon and after a few minutes - after letting the silicon partly dry, run a knife through the silicom and pull the tape off ?

Any ideas really.

You can get a tool that removes the excess silicon and leaves a neat edge, although you can also use the masking tape method you suggested too.
