Shower waste

Post by martin g » Sat Jun 12, 2010 9:06 pm

Hi everyone,

i am new to the diy world and my wife wants me to install a shower unit in the bathroom. I have been out and bought lots of stuff including tray and waste. I bought a Wirquin shower waste (Google "wirquin.com/FICHES%20PDTS%20GB/VIDAGES/Tourbillons%20D50.pdf ")believing that i do not need a U bend as it appeared to not need one. Got home and showed my friend who also has no plumbing knowledge who then said that ofcourse it needs a U bend because its a waste pipe :?
Can someone tell me if my friend or myself is right

Many thanks for any help
Martin

What you have bought is a "U bend" or shower trap as it is properly known.

You need nothing else to connect it to the waste pipe. To prove it, fill it with water and see.
