Single Skin Wall Strong Enough for Mezzanine Floor?

by Turner1486 » Tue Sep 10, 2019 2:48 pm

Im building a mezzanine floor 7m x 3m in a garage for extra storage. Im using 7x2 timbers around the perimeter with 2 spanning the centre of the garage (7m) with a 4x4 post as support in the middle, notched, bolted and screwed together in the middle. The perimeter ones are screwed at 1st but will use resin and bolt fixings. Will a single skin wall be strong enough to take the weight? Underneath each end of the 7x2 i was going to add so 4x2 uprights as extra support to the 7x2 around the perimeter. The floor will be 7x2 at 400 centres hung from hangers with chipboard flooring to finish.
