Sink not draining - at a loss what to do next

Post by hch4971 » Sat Jan 09, 2010 7:06 pm

My kitchen sink suddenly stopped draining. I checked the trap and pipes that run water outside. The outside pipes were frozen solid and I removed all the ice but still won't drain. This morning I took apart all the pipes under the sink and they are all clear. I noticed the dishwasher has water in the bottom but am not sure if this is the dw that hasn't drained or water from the sink that has run into it. I cleaned the filters on the dishwasher and they were all clear, I removed the pipe where the dishwasher drains into sink outlet and that is clear. I just cannot think what to do next, any ideas please?

hch4971,
Since you have cleared the ice from the outside pipe open it up again and try pouring water down the pipe. If it backs up you will have to look in any inspection chambers around your home.
end
