First post and possibly a supremely daft question...but what's the difference between a sink unit and a normal base unit?

Ikea only do 800mm sink units and I could really do with one that's 1000mm, so I was wondering if it'd be possibly to just use a normal base unit.

As I said, probably a silly question but any help would be very much appreciated!

Could depend on the type of sink you are installing. Inset/surface etc.
