Please can you help? I have a dreadful smell coming from the sink in the kitchen. The drain is not blocked as the water is flowing freely, the smell is especially bad in the am. I have tried everything. Have you any ideas

HI take a look at our projects section and go to the projects on waste pipes. IE Waste Traps, how they work.

https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/alphasearch/W.htm

When you get a full understanding of what should be happening with your system you may be able to figure out what is going wrong. For a smell to be getting back into the kitchen then it must be by-passing the trap somehow. This may mean you have something connected to the waste above the trap (washing machine ?).

Hi KHE,
The Doctor could be right but sometimes sink traps do smell a bit. Try taking the trap off and cleaning it up and a regular dose of Domestos tipped down the sink and left for some time before running any water through works wonders.
Best wishes
