Soundproofing a hotel bedroom floor

by donna holland » Sat Aug 09, 2008 11:56 am

Hello,
I recently bought an old hotel. I have a couple of rooms above our bar, and they seem to magnify the noise coming from below. Could you please advise me the cheapest and easilest solution to be fitted by my maintenace man, other wise i have to send my guests to bed early and close the bar?!
Thanks

Hello,

Soundproofing a floor should be quite easy but does depend on the construction of the building, So a few questions to start off with.

How do you want to finish the floor?(carpet, laminate or other)
What construction is the floor?(timber, concrete or other)
What construction are the walls of the rooms?
When the building constructed?

The best and most versatile solution is to create a floating floor using acoustic R10 and SBM5 soundproofing mat topped off with Quietboard. But there are other solution depending on the answers to the questions above.

Hope thst helps.
