Soundproofing a wooden joist floor - Acoustiblok???!

by DIYnoviceLDN » Wed Jun 29, 2011 11:43 pm

Need to soundproof the floors of our Edwardian flat - wooden floors etc - as driving downstairs bats even if we tiptoe, and we can hear them too! they tried inserting insulation inbetween their ceiling and our floor, but suspect need something more solid.

Anyone have experience of Acoustiblok? Is this the best thing? And recommendations on getting it installed? We want to reduce the sound by as much as possible, and hopefully eventually do the whole flat - suspect we can do it all quite yet.

Also what would we put on top? I am thinking a wooden floor as lino is quite expensive.

Would really, really appreciate any tips as we want to resolve asap! Thanks.
