Splash marks on new plaster showing up

Post by Amzdadan » Sun Apr 19, 2020 11:24 pm

Hi all,

I'm painting on new plastered walls and there seems to be from what I think water marks that show up when putting a base coat over it. Regardless of the number of coats I put on the stains don't go. What should I use ?

I have photos but I've tried resizing and compressing them and had no luck

Thanks

Hi. I’ve experienced this myself. From what I remember I think I gave them a light rub with fine sandpaper. Also I have found that Leyland Super Latex paint is a fantastic first coat for new plaster. Hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for the response.

I've sanded all the walls down and I can see the marks have gone down, I'm going to apply the mist coat and hope for the best!

Thanks

I've seen
Leyland Trade Contract Matt Emulsion Paint 10L Brilliant White

For around £15

What's the difference between super leytex and this one

Thnks

I’m no expert on paints. Both get good reviews on Screwfix. I would think the leytex gives it the edge on new plaster but plenty of people seem happy with the contract for this when watered down. I’ve only used the leytex and found it gave great coverage.
