New joiner and first post.
I'm struggling with my treads on a stairs renovation. After removing old carpet it was clear the stairs historically had a carpet strip and painted sides. I sanded the stairs to death and the tread sides are left much lighter than the middle. No amount of sanding is helping.
Has anyone fixed this? I'm currently experimenting with different stains to darken the tread sides match the middle, with little success..
