stand alone pir

hi there
will a mains stand alone pir activate a siren that i want to fit near my heating oil tank or would i have to step down to 12v /15v

There are many different ways to wire and both extra low voltage and low voltage are both options. However there are rules on alarms sounding. Normally to comply with the rules one would need an alarm panel so that the sounder will switch off within required time etc.
Since most sounders have a 12 volt anti-tamper likely you will need to use a 12 volt system.
