My boiler has stopped working, it hasn't tripped out as the reset button hasn't actived. The programmer is live and indicates Hot water and heating is on but boiler not firing. The boiler has been making a strange noise for about 4 to 6 weeks - whilst firing (but not on every firing - intermittent) the boiler would make a sound as if there was a rachet inside ie: like a rachet socket spanner just louder and slightly echoie. Not sure of the boiler - think its a Potter-something and its an old system with a cold and hot water tank in the loft and the boiler doesn't have a seperate pressure cylinder or pressure gauge - any ideas?????
