Stripped Tap Screw for Ceramic Cartridge

Post by EddyGutbucket » Thu Jan 30, 2020 7:57 pm

Hi

Not sure whether this is the correct place for this but I really need a bit of help. Its a small problem that's slowly turning into an insurmountable issue!

I need to change the ceramic cartridges in my kitchen mixer tap. Cold all done OK. Hot..the screw holding the cartridge in is completely stripped. I've probably made it worse with cheap Amazon screw extractors that I bought. When I used them the screw wouldn't budge and the stripped hole just got bigger and even more smooth.

Is there any way you may know to get this screw out? I'm not a DIYer of any note but I have drills and bits and screw extractors but I don't think I have the right technique.

Any tips please? The dripping is doing everyone's head in here!!

Many thanks
