Table top and applying darker varnish over existing varnish

Post by CecileCecile » Sat Apr 18, 2020 11:22 am

Hi, wondering if anyone could advise me please. I have an old pine table and I've painted the legs Grey which turned out fine. The top was sanded and was just too light so I have applied a varnish to it to protect and give it a different color but now it's turned a orangey color and I hate it, can I apply a darker varnish on top of the one I have already applied? Will the color really change or have I made a big mistake applying varnish and should strip and start again? Help please

Hi Cecile Cecile,
You've nothing to loose by applying another coat of darker varnish, you can always strip it back.
