Toilet (cistern) is making a high pitched 'hooting' sound

by kittyhiggs » Sat Aug 16, 2008 5:34 pm

Toilet (cistern) is making a high pitched 'hooting' sound towards the last 20 to 30 seconds of refilling after a flush. All other aspects of flush seem ok. Can anyone offer any advice on how I can fix this?
Many Thanks

Try renewing the rubber washer in the make-up ball valve. If the problem still persists, you could try throttling the make up water rate slightly because the noise you describe is sometimes caused by the ball float 'bobbing about' on the water surface.
