For the last 3-4 months, the toilet had started to make noises. When I ran to it one day, found out that it had, all on its own, started to refill the cistern. No one had flushed it. This happened in 3-5 sec bursts once every week.
Lately, this has gone up to 2-3 times a day.
Took the lid off when flushing and the float always rises to the top properly, never sticks.
I can look for the make of the toilet/mechanism if that helps.
rob3rto,
Looks like you have steel water main pipes and or steel pipes in your home. Did you clean out all the deposits in the lower part of the cistern? and have you cleaned both the flush and water supply valve mechanisms?

How can you tell I have steel pipes? No idea if I do or not.
Only cleaned ot the fill valve. Took it apart down to the seal and gave it all a good clean with an Orange based Alll Purpose Cleaner.
You reckon the flush system is the cause as it still has the symptoms?
