Hi all - we'd be grateful for any help here. Moved into a new place recently and the toilet seat is not fixed in place, which is proving problematic for my pregnant OH!
Everything I've looked at seems to assume the toilet would have a vertical fixing i.e. from beneat the seat.
This loo seems to need to be fixed from the back i.e. from behind the seat.
I've already wasted some money on the wrong thing, so any guidance on what I should be buying would be welcome. If I need a new seat too, that's fine.
Hi matt_12345 You could try asking in a plumbers merchant but I think you will struggle to find the right mountings. You'll probably have to buy a new blind hole fixing seat but check the hole centres and that the seat will lift with horizontal mountings. Regards S
Hi matt_12345 Yes I think you'll have problems finding a suitable seat. I don't think any of the top fix fittings on the aftermarket are suitable. Wooden toilet seats generally have a more flexible hinge arrangement - but not the soft close ones. Go to Victorian Plumbing, search for wooden seats and use the 'top fix' filter, they generally give dimensions. Your alternative is to replace the loo, cistern and seat. Regards S
