Told by Anglian Water That we Have Leak but Can't Find it!

Hello all,
This is my first post, so please bear with me.
We had a phone call from Anglian Water telling us that they suspected we had a leak as we were losing 2 litres of water an hour, so they sent a plumber to advise us.
He checked our water metre and told us that the leak was in the house somewhere. There are no visable signs of a leak, no damp patches, no pools of water visible, no sound of water.
He concluded that he thought it was probably coming from the cold water tank in the loft with a little water leaking out of the overflow during a build up overnight. He told us to check the overflow first thing in the morning to see if there was water coming out. There wasn't! He didn't go into the loft to check.
He assured us that the leak is only very small and to not worry too much, however we are keen to trace it and if it's not the cold water tank overflow we have no idea where to start.
He checked the toilet and overflow and everything seems fine there.
Any suggestions would be most helpful.
Thanks
