Top of stairs lower than adjoining landings

Postby iw35 » Thu Dec 30, 2021 10:25 pm

Victorian semi. Small landing at top of stairs is currently a bit lower than level of adjoining floors - see photo.

Has probably been like this for many years.

Leave as is, or add a platform (topped with pine floorboards?) to create a uniform floor level? Any building reg considerations?

Would appreciate any expert advice.

Hi iw35,
It would be a nice idea but the rise on the flight of stairs must be the same. I suspect if you do what you propose the top stem will be a shallower one than the rest.
