I've just purchased large wooded gates for my house that are made of pine, including planed tongue and groove panels. To treat and preserve them I used Ronseal Fence and Shed Preserver - my mistake. What I failed to read on the tub was it's for rough sawn wood, not planed wood. Now I find it's not soaking into the wood. Can I salvage the situation without sanding the gates down? Can I go over it with something else? I'm in desperate help as the gate fitters are arriving this week to fit them and I'm going to look like an idiot as it it.
