Treatment for new oak windows

Is it realistic to leave new oak windows untreated so that they will weather silver grey, and if not what clear treatment is suitable to protect them?

you can use clear high grade yacht varnish.

Or Oil them, lots of different ones available, test on a bit of scrap timber.
