Vertical decking board

by g0ggs » Fri Sep 11, 2020 11:05 am

Hello

We have a gap between the ground and the decking structure which is too large to be covered if the decking board is placed vertical .

Has anyone used small sections of decking board cut to size to cover a large gap rather than have a long board covering the side ?

Thanks
Gordon

Hi Stoneyboy

It’s the side panel I’m talking about , if I put a decking board along it there will be a gap and I’ll see the bricks under but if I chop up the decking board into small sections and put them facing downward I could get more brick hidden at the bottom.

Hi g0ggs
You could do vertical slats but end grain will then be in the ground and short lengths of decking do not season well. Better to cut boards along the length and fit two narrower pieces horizontally.
