Wall Area to Work on at a Given Time When Repointing? All manner of questions and solutions to problems and issues surrounding the subject of brickwork, blockwork and stonework

long garden wall, (so no ladders!)
What length of wall is reasonable to work on at a time, 1/2/3 ft?
Do I clean old mortar from top to bottom/ or bottom to top
Vertical or horizontal first
How many rows at a time do I clean to re-point in one go
