Wall preperation after removing the old tiles in my bathroom

Postby BullBates1 » Sat Oct 16, 2021 2:13 pm

I've been removing the old tiles in my bathroom ready for an upgrade however the plaster on the wall is very powdery. It's basically pinkish dust on the wall. Do I need to do anything to this prior to tiling? I was planning on putting tile backer boards with adhesive and then tiling onto that but worried that the wall is pretty flimsy and so are the 6mm boards I have

Hi bullbates1
You will need to paint the powdery wall with stabiliser and then use board adhesive to stick the tile backer boards to the wall. The more dabs you use the more rigid the board will be.
