Waste water pipes running under extension?

by DUDE DIY » Thu Dec 06, 2007 11:47 pm

Hi any advice is appreciated. Im having a kitchen extension built in 2008 and the plans Ive had drawn up involved re-routing my waste water pipe from its current position through the garden. The waste drainage pipe is currently postioned down the back of my drive which is the area to be built on. Does anyone know wether waste water, and surface water drainage are allowed to run under my new extension foundations. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Simple answer, yes they are, unless they are owned by the Water Board, ie Southern Water, thames Water etc then they may have their own requirements.

It all needs to comply with the building regualtions, but shouldn't be a problem. A competent builder will know what to do and all will need to be checked by the Building Inspector beofre anything is covered over anyway.

Hope this helps.
