Hi, I have a small but contant leak of water from the base of the toilet pedestal out onto the floor. Is this a serious problem developing? Advice greatly appreciated.

Yes you have a problem.

1. Is it coming from where the cistern meets the pan?

2. Is it coming from where the pan connector joins either the pan or the sewer pipe?

3. Is it coming from somewhere else?

You ought to be able to be more specific than you have been to get pertinent advice. If it's number 2 rather than number 1 it's more of a problem because it will be foul water.

Wherever, you need it looked at if you don't have the knowledge or the confidence to address it yourself.

Cheers

You need to get this fixed and reasonably quickly. It may only seem a small leak, but over time will mount up and if you have a timber floor beneath the toilet, there could be long term trouble.

Hope this helps.

Depending on the age of the toilet, not unusual for the trap (built into the pan) to crack and leak water.
