Water running down inside of toilet bowl, despite replacing syphon outlet valve

Postby melvinmmelvin » Fri May 12, 2023 1:51 pm

Apologies if this has been covered before: despite the syphon in our toilet cistern having been serviced a number of times by qualified plumbers (replacement of outlet valve seal and clip, etc), water continues to run down the back of the inside of our toilet bowl, as evidenced by the 'toilet tissue' test. The toilet is little more than ten years old and is in good condition.
Does anyone please have any clues as to what might be happening? Thank you - MmM

Hi melvinmmelvin,
Assuming you have a close coupled toilet with a flush valve rather than a siphon valve and the servicing has been done correctly.
Have you looked in the cistern to see if the fill valve is allowing the cistern to be over filled? and overflowing?
If all the above criteria have been met there is a slight possibility that the bolts holding the pan and cistern together have not been properly sealed in the cistern - not easy to check.

Thanks, Stoney - I'm a bit thick on the detail, sorry: all I know is that this is a syphon type and the new-style see-through disc has been replaced.

Hi melvinmmelvin,
Lift off the cistern lid and have a look at the water level when the loo has not be used for a while, there’s every chance it’s too high and overflowing.
