Water stains re-appear 6 years later

Postby snow1507 » Thu Jun 11, 2020 9:38 am

Hello All - about 6 years ago we had a leak on our new extension, the extension was only a few months and what we thought was the source of the leak identified. The area where the leak had come through to the plasterboard was dried out and repainted (not sure if an oil base coat was used), the while area finished and looked great. 6 years on (Jan 20) and we've had the house interior repainted, we're now in June and have noticed the following stain mark's in the same area as the original leak. Whst we're trying determine is if its leaking again or if the new stains have been drawn through the original paint from 6 years ago? Is the even possible.

Hi snow1507
You will probably never find out, paint over the discolouration with oil based stain block and redecorate locally.
