Weather Proofing a Cellar Door Protected by Balcony Above

by JHGenova » Thu Dec 07, 2017 3:30 pm

Hi

I'm looking for some advice on weather proofing/rain proofing a cellar door. Picture is below. The door is sheltered and protected by a balcony directly above it, but if the wind blows hard in a particular direction while it is raining, water is forced between the door and the house wall

The door is pretty rudimentary, but the water ingress only happens a couple of times per year, so spending hundreds on a new door doesn't really make sense.

The door opens outwards towards you and there is currently no wooden frame between the door and the wall, the doors just sits like a barn door on two hinges.

Any advice greatly appreciated!
Thanks
