Moved into an old house 3 years ago with oil fired CH & HW from a Rayburn. The house also has an attached granny annexe with its own oil fired CH & HW from a Bosch boiler.
However, although the systems run independently there appears to be a link between the two systems - the two pipes from each of the boilers seem to be linked - there are two valves with a barely legible label saying along the lines of... "should the house need to be run off one system" implying that I could run both houses of either system by opening these valves. The label also says something about closing something off if you do open the connecting valves, but I can't make it out properly.
Indeed, when I've traced the pipes it looks like with the valves open, the Rayburn would feed two Hot water cylinders - is this possible/legal/dangerous?
